Project: Shower room and wc of 3m2. Demolition of existing shower room, complete renewal of all plumbing, design and installation of a new shower room and construction of an ‘extension’ for the toilet box of a cat!
Brief: Warm, personal, rich in colour, tile and mosaic, and the incorporation of a litter-tray for a cat.
Response: Much time was given to the discussion on search for the combination of tile texture and colour in combination with, and foundation for, the depth and tactility of the mosaic focus. The restricted space was extended by the tiled surfaces reaching to the ceiling, by illuminated niches of delight not function, and by the simplicity and continuity of object, from toilet pan to soap dish. The utility of storage was enclosed in a mobile cupboard that hid the ‘service entrance’ to the acquired litter-tray ‘room’, the private entrance for which resided in the adjacent hallway. A shower room meant for two became exclusively ‘hers’.
