The home of a bachelor with aspirations. Nottingham,

Project: The total renovation of a 90m2 three storey terraced house, with a cellar and rear yard. Work to include the lowering the level of the cellar floor, a new insulated ground floor slab, rebuilding the single storey kitchen extension, retiling the roof, replacing windows, electrics, and plumbing, and opening for use, two ground floor fireplaces.
Brief: After main reconstruction work; to create a contemporary interior and garden, including two fire places in the dining room and the lounge, a kitchen, bathroom, two first floor bedrooms and an attic bedroom.
Response: Reconstruction of the entrance corridor wall to close the lounge doorway, leaving only a gap as a visual link, and providing a corridor niche for a given painting, and shelving on the reverse side for the lounge. A new through passage was opened from dining room to lounge. Two fireplaces were created in formed concrete; in the lounge with a log store and platform, and in the dining room, at table level, to be used as a barbeque. A fluid parquet was laid across the ground floor, the cellar was brought into the house as laundry and workshop, the kitchen included a service window onto a terrace, onto a planted secret garden with high garden walls, a bathroom, and bedrooms with constructed open storage
